HISTORY
The Finger Lakes region is rich in history and The Mansion at Keuka Lakes is no exception. In 1838, The Mansion was built on a bluff overlooking Keuka Lake by John Nicholas Rose, a farmer from Virginia, who became one of the area’s most prominent and wealthy citizens.
Known originally as Esperanza, the 2½ story mansion is a Greek Revival architectural masterpiece, featuring a massive two-story portico composed of four Ionic columns, a spacious porch entrance, and classic interior detail. The Rose family lived on the estate until 1870, at which point it passed to various owners who used it as a family home, updating it along the way. Over the years, The Mansion has also been a winery, art gallery, and bed and breakfast. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
Today, the completely restored mansion retains its 19th-century charm and details
The Mansion includes decorative fireplaces and original portraiture. A banquet room and adjacent 21-room Inn were added to the expansive five acres of grounds.
